Regular Season Round 17: Mega BG - Crvena zvezda 107-102

There was a small surprise in Beograd where first rankedMega BG (6-9) beat their close opponent Crvena zvezda (11-4) 107-102 on Sunday. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Mega BG made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Mega BG outrebounded Crvena zvezda 40-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. Mega BG looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Bogoljub Markovic (210-2005) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Swingman Asim Djulovic (204-2005) chipped in 19 points. American guard Jared Butler (191-1999, college: Baylor) produced 20 points and 5 assists and Brazilian point guard Yago Dos Santos (175-1999) added 17 points and 8 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Mega BG maintains first place with 6-9 record, which they share with Borac. Loser Crvena zvezda still keeps top position with four games lost.
